It's Time for the Summer Reading Clubs!

Welcome to Cutler Research Institute!
Explore the wonders of science through the library's three Summer Reading Clubs all kicking-off next week!

For Kids Age 0 thru 5th Grade
Something is waiting for many children every summer, and their parents don’t even know it’s out there. It's called the "summer slide," and it describes what happens when young minds sit idle for three months.
  • Children who do not read over the summer will lose more than two months of reading achievement, and this reading loss is cumulative.
  • By the end of 6th grade children who lose reading skills over each summer will be 2 years behind their classmates.
Combat the slide by joining Miss Carrie-Anne & company for a fun filled six weeks of reading, crafts, contests and other events.
  • Sign Up in the Lower Level Young Readers' Room.
  • Check out the calendar of events and read the activity booklet online.
  • Attend the Kick-Off event on Wednesday, June 25th.  It's not mandatory, but you really don't want to miss it!

For Tweens & Teens in Grades 6 thru 10
Miss Kerri and Miss Alex have planned a terrific calendar of events to keep the Tweens & Teens active this summer.

By reading and joining in on other activities like making "floam," Doctor Who Trivia, and LED Throwies, they amass Reading and Activity Raffle Tickets in an attempt to win pizzas, tickets to Water Country or Canobie Lake Park, and much, much more.
  • Sign Up at the Upper Level Circulation Desk.
  • Check out the calendar and activity list online. (Hint: Print brochure pages, place back to back, and tri-fold.)

For Young Adults & Adults Age 16 and Over
This summer, the older crowd is hitting the lab for READIOACTIVE fun.  By reading, participating in simple weekly activities, and attending family/adult programs such as Skywatch, Magic of Science, Jazz First, and Banjos, Bones and Ballads, participants earn raffle tickets towards awesome prizes, such as $100 to Naticook Fish and Grill.
  • Sign Up at the Upper Level Circulation Desk.
  • Check out the activity brochure online. (Hint: Print brochure pages, place back to back, and tri-fold.)
